domain-poster

Some of you may have noticed that MyInkBlog was down the last couple of days. Unfortunately, when I switched hosts from StartLogic to the awesome guys at Eleven2 I wasn’t able to transfer the domain name as well. So when I canceled my StartLogic account I had no way of knowing that my domain name was about to expire.

I really don’t have anyone to blame but myself. The moral of the story is to pay close attention to your domain renewal. It cost me two days and $160 to get it out of the redemption period.

Other Site News

With the site being down it did give me the chance to work on my redesign. Which is coming along rather nicely. I’m currently coding the HTML and CSS, I’ll be Wordpressing it soon. I’m hoping to release the new design in 2-4 months (very tentative). I also got a chance to work on the second part of my tutorial on how to Design A Fresh Blog Theme on the 960 Grid. This second part will be released soon, and it will show you how to code your design in HTML and CSS.

It’s good to have you back. During my recent host switch I also ran into some trouble and the site was down for a couple days. Really sucks, but at least we both got it sorted out :)
Are you basing your redesign on a theme or using some sort of template (like wpthemekit)? As I am working on a redesign myself it would be interesting to know.
Quite funny how we’re having the same schedule isn’t it. Started around the same time, just switched hosts and working on a redesign. I’d say: great minds think alike :)

@Franz - That’s funny, we are on quite the similar path :) The MIB redesign is going to be custom. The current theme is a modified from a pre-existing theme. I got to where I was pretty happy with it, but I’m really looking forward to finishing up something that is 100% original. What sort of thing are you doing for your redesign? I saw the preview you showed on Twitter… it looks great!

Good to have your site back. It’s quite irony that we can only have the time to redesign the site when it’s down.

I can understand, it has happened to me once and it’s so frustrating and I felt like kicking my self but finally when the matter was resolved there was nothing more satisfying than that feeling of being relieved.
